More Information about the Economic Theory Centre

Structure

The Director of the Centre is appointed, from among its members, by the Head of the Department of Economics after consultation with the Advisory Board. The Director may be assisted by one or more Associate Directors, and will report to an Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board will consist of at least two members of the University of Melbourne, one member of another Australian University, and at least four international members.

The Centre will publish an annual report, and will be reviewed biennially by the Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Melbourne. The Advisory Board will meet at least annually and make a report to the Head of the Department of Economics. It may meet electronically or by teleconference.

Membership

Membership in the Centre is open to any member of the Department of Economics (or any other Department of the University of Melbourne or of the Melbourne Business School) with a research interest in Economic Theory. Associate membership is open to members of other Universities or research institutions.

Funding

The Department of Economics at the University of Melbourne provides office space, and day to day administrative support for the program and the Director. Otherwise the Centre is entirely self funded, through external funds brought in by its members, and it has operated without any direct financial support from the University. The Centre acknowledges the assistance of the Australian Research Council, through its Discovery and Linkage Programs, for support to research projects undertaken within the Centre, and for support to its academic programs.
